We have rescued so many horses through the years but have failed to document any of the horses due to time constraints until now.
This is Teddys' Story
We received a call from a lady who had two horses she wanted to us to rescue. We requested photos before we took the 2 hour drive to pick up the horses. When we got there, the two horses looked nothing like the pictures she had emailed us. The 2 horses were very emaciated and had long matted fur coats that were covered in sores. I wish I could have taken both horses but the other horse was a wind sucker and much thinner and unsteady on his feet. We knew we could help Teddy. He had that look in his eye that said "please get me outta here."
Teddy has a kind eye. We could see the potential underneath all of his sores & protruding bones. He came right up to us and begged for attention so off Teddy went into our horse trailer.
Teddy is a 5 y/o TB gelding off the track with tattoos under his lip. Teddy like many other horses is a victim of the economy. This guy won over our hearts with his loving personality. We rescued him on March 20, 2009. As you can see, Teddy is very thin and has rain rot and sores all over his body. We are nursing this guy back to health.
Please check out our site to read about Teddy's and his updates.
Teddy is about 300 lbs under weight & very weak.

The vet came out to evaluate Teddy today March 22, 2009. We are treating his rain rot. He is also getting wormed.
The Vet check indicated that Teddy is totally sound!!!
March 23, 2009 Teddy is eating six small meals a day to help put back on his weight.
March 24, 2009 Teddy is still not strong enough to be turned out with any of the other horses for play time just yet.
Teddy is slowly getting his energy back. March 25, 2009. I can totally see the potential in this guy.
Teddy loves socializing with the other horses and is getting stronger every day.

Teddy has been given a clean bill of health from the vet. He is 100% sound and we have just started training him. He has nice transisition from trot to canter. We suspect he was ridden western he responds really well to a western saddle & headstall. His back is a bit sore from the wounds and needs some extra padding under his saddle.

Teddy was adopted today he has gone into training to become a Yosemite Mounted Patrol horse. We are all very sad to see Teddy leave, there was alot of tears cried today at our barn Teddy. The whole barn bonded with this wonderful gelding espically the barn manager. We are so excited that he has been adopted by a wonderful loving gentleman. Who we know will take very good care of him. Teddy is going to have a wonderful life patroling the beautiful Yosemite National Park Grounds. We are going to miss him so much. We will keep you updated on his progress. You just may see Teddy on your next vacation patroling the national park grounds. We will always keep Teddy in our hearts.
